A Chippewa Indian, Turcotte brought the complicated identity of an ancient people attempting to survive in contemporary America to bear on this collection of his poems. Turcotte is a previous recipient of the Josephine Gates Kelly Memorial Fellowship from the Wordcraft Circle of Native Writers and Storytellers.
