| This photographic tribute commemorates the response by the members of the New York City Fire Department ( New York`s bravest ) and the New York City Police Department ( New York`s finest ) to the events of September 11, 2001, when the World Trade Center was destroyed by terrorists. More than 116 pages of photographs of the search and rescue operations and forewords by Police Commissioner Bernard Kerik and Fire Commissioner Thomas Von Essen pay tribute to those who selflessly gave their lives in the first hours of the disaster and those who responded in its aftermath. Also included are the inspiring words of national leaders. |
