Return to Reason |

| In RETURN TO REASON, Stephen Toulmin discusses the difference between reasonableness and rationality, the mistrust of practical wisdom, and the overdependence on abstract theories throughout Western culture. This imbalance is not isolated in a few disciplines, Toulmin argues, but is pervasive and has led to the cultural demise that is frequently lamented in the public arena. Toulmin looks to the future and tries to find ways to reconcile rationality and reasonableness. |
